There are five main lessons in this class, each covered over a two week span.
Lesson 1: The Phases of the Times of the Judges and The Prevailing Conditions at the Time of Deborah
The Book of Judges gives an account of establishing of God’s righteous justice in the land—against the sin of disobedience and idolatry of His people, as well as the wicked and oppressive rule of the principalities set against God’s people. Unfortunately, "every man did that which was right in his own eyes." As a result, they were plagued from the enemies within their boundaries and enemy nations surrounding them. Their lives became one vicious cycle—from rest to sin, to rebellion, reckoning, repentance, renewal and rest again. This lesson will show how the times of the judges parallel the times we live in today.
Lesson 2: The Private and Public Life of Deborah
Certain segments of the religious world have felt that the best way to serve God is living a monastic life—'come out from among them and be separate,' they say. But the Lord has called us to live a life that is both relational and impactful. We are called to be the salt and the light of the earth. Deborah had a hidden life, but she lived a very public life as well—she took a personal and active interest in the needs of the people of her community. This lesson will show you how to live out in public what you receive from the Lord in private.
Lesson 3: The Performance of Deborah's Ministry and The Pampering Mother
It is only out of the hidden place—time spent in intimacy with the Lord, that Deborah could successfully function in ministry. How she performed ministry was the fruit of the hidden life. The right position was everything. Scripture does not say that Deborah was a mother in the natural, but she definitely saw herself in the role of a mother to the dejected, defeated people of God. Like Deborah, this lesson will show you how to live as a fierce warrior against the enemies of God, while caring as a nurturing mother to the people of God as well.
Lesson 4: The War Plans of Deborah (Parts 1 and 2)
Deborah must have heard directly from God that the time had come for more decisive action against His enemies. She saw that the task at hand was enormous; but she trusted her team and summoned Commander Barak, who came without delay. There was no division between them as they worked together in true honor and respect, alongside each other for the purpose of God's people and the Glory of God. In this lesson, you'll learn how to walk without competing, but only completing, while releasing the prophetic word you have been given with confidence!
Lesson 5: The Provoking of the Jael Anointing
Jael the unassuming homemaker, turned mighty warrior, possessed a powerful anointing to take down the strongman. She was a king-slayer! Jael will encourage and empower you if you feel like you can't do much because you are a homemaker, soccer Mom, or feel bound by the limitations of your station in life. This lesson will breathe new life and hope into you, demonstrating that God can and will partner with anyone who is prepared to partner with Him in enforcing the victory He won over Satan more than 2000 years ago at Calvary’s cross.
